New Delhi: Zee Theatre, known for pushing the boundaries of traditional entertainment with its unadulterated content, has now created a new niche for itself by bringing four international musical blockbusters to Indian television for the first time.
A glorious month of star-studded, award-winning music from ‘The Sound of Music Live!’ will start with. Which will be aired at Tata Play Theater on 29th May, followed by ‘Hairspray Live!’, ‘Peter Pan Live!’ and ‘Billy Elliot: The Musical’.
Over the years, these musicals have been adapted for the stage and big and small screen with great success and Zee Theater has much to recommend them, with astonishing production values, captivating performances and a plethora of nostalgia. Help is included.
With these treats, Zee Theater has not only diversified its slate but will also attract new audiences, who will discover the energy and excitement of immersive music for the first time.
Take a live production of ‘The Sound of Music’, featuring the much-anticipated musical score with Carrie Underwood, a multiple Grammy and Academy of Country Music award winning sensation. Underwood stars Stephen Moyer, Audra McDonald, Christian Borle and Laura Benanti, alongside Mariah. Directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller and Rob Ashford, this true story based on the memoir by Maria von Trapp, “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers” has been a resounding hit since the unveiling of its first Broadway production in 1959. Thanks to its central love story, ageless music, and family-centered wellness, music has become an eternal favorite. Its cinematic version was the highest-grossing film of 1965 and starred Oscar winner Christopher Plummer and Golden Globe Award winning actor Julie Andrews.
