Police has formed 15 teams to arrest the culprits involved in the murder. The first arrest in the case was made by the Punjab Police on May 31, two days after the murder of Musewala in Mansa district. Manpreet Singh, who was arrested from Uttarakhand, was charged with providing logistical support to the attackers.

Meanwhile, politicians from across parties continued to reach Musewala’s native village in Mansa to meet the singer’s family to express their condolences. Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot, who met the family on Monday, said, “It can’t be a bigger pain to see a father watching his younger son die like this. Everyone wants justice in this incident.”

During an interaction with reporters, he expressed concern over the alleged deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab. The Congress leader from Rajasthan said, “Every day some incident happens. Drug mafia, gangster and terrorist elements are spreading their web.”

Referring to the murder of Musewala, he said that the state and central government should get to the bottom of the incident and those involved in this gruesome murder should be given strict punishment. He said that Moosewala was a popular singer and Congress leader.

Pilot said that the people of Punjab have seen the dark days of terrorism and no one would want such a phase to come again at any cost. Musewala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, a day after the state government cut his security. His cousin and a friend who were traveling with him in the jeep were also injured in the attack.

Musewala was among 424 people whose security was temporarily withdrawn or reduced by the Punjab Police.

The state police had termed the incident as a case of inter-gang rivalry and said that Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the murder. Goldie Barr, a Canadian resident, who is a member of the gang, claimed responsibility for the murder.
