New Delhi: Actress Kangana Ranaut’s latest release ‘Dhaakad’ is rocking the box office. The action-thriller hit the cinema halls on May 20 with Kartik Aaryan starrer ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’. While the latter is approaching the Rs 150 crore collection, the performance of ‘Dhaakad’ was so disappointing that theaters had to pull the film down due to low audience. However, Kangana is unfazed by these developments and has termed 2022 as a ‘blockbuster’ year.
Kangana shared a screenshot of an article on Instagram Stories, calling her the “box office queen of India”. Along with this, the ‘Queen’ actress wrote, ‘2019 I gave a superhit of 160 crores to Manikarnika, 2020 was the Kovid year. 2021 I gave the biggest film of my career Thalaivi which came on OTT and was a huge success. ,
He continued, “I see a lot of negativity but 2022 is the year of blockbuster-locked up hosting. And it’s not over yet… I have high hopes for it.”
‘Dhaakad’ opened poorly at the box office with a collection of less than Rs 1 crore on its first day. Later trade sources in PTI suggested that the film was shelved by the distributors due to “very low audience turnout”. Apart from Kangana, the film, directed by Rajneesh Ghai, also stars Divya Dutta and Arjun Rampal.
This year Kangana made her OTT debut as she hosted ALTBalaji’s controversial reality show ‘Lock Up’. The show was a huge hit and Kangana herself as one of the Bollywood actors to be a successful show host.
Talking about the upcoming projects, the actress will next be seen in ‘Tejas’ where she is playing the role of an Air Force pilot. Kangana is also currently busy shooting for the film ‘Emergency’ based on the tenure of former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi. She is also directing the film. The 35-year-old is also producing and directing ‘Tikoo Weds Sheru’ starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur.
